Association of University Administrators

AUA is the professional association for higher education administration and management staff at all stages of their career. As an organisation, we exist for our members. We offer support to help you enhance  careers, boost your job prospects and create valuable networking opportunities. In short, we empower our members to take control of their career development.

AUA offers strategically aligned organisations within the HE sector a range of bespoke services, from conference and meetings coordination and subscriptions management, to the production of publications and management of websites.

Council of Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities in the UK (DASSH-UK)

DASSH UK is the representative body of Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities in universities and higher education institutions throughout the UK. It provides a forum for debating matters of policy and practice in relation to our disciplines and their development. We aim to exchange information and ideas, and inform and influence national policy.

Our members are Deans and Assistant Deans, Heads of Schools of faculties of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities.

Leadership Foundation for Higher Education

The Leadership Foundation's mission is to equip current and future leaders in Higher Education with the skills and awareness of good practice so that they can deliver continuous academic and professional improvement in their institutions and respond effectively to future challenges.

This is achieved by :

  • Developing and delivering high quality leadership development programmes
  • Working with leadership teams inside HE institutions to build their capacity to deliver excellence and change
  • Actively encouraging across HE a culture of organisational learning and reflection 
  • Promoting equality and diversity by creating a larger pool from which future leaders, governors and managers within HE can be drawn 
  • Enhancing the esteem associated with excellence in leadership, management and governance in HE
  • Encouraging leadership learning across sector and international boundaries, thereby recognising HEIs' wider leadership contribution to the private and public sectors and the global community
  • Championing and showcasing leadership excellence in UK HEIs on a worldwide basis
  • Constantly engaging with leaders of HEIs to offer support, challenge and stimulus.

Northern Universities Consortium

The Northern Universities Consortium (NUCCAT) is drawn from Higher Education Institutions across northern and central England and Northern Ireland and:

‘Provides a forum for higher education practitioners with an interest in the design, implementation and regulation of credit-based curriculum and its implications for the student experience and progression, reflecting the changing dynamics of the sector.’

 The Northern Universities Consortium works on behalf of its members to:

  • Share best practice in the development of modularity, credit frameworks and academic frameworks including assessment regulations and level descriptors;
  • Respond to national consultations and other drivers and work with fellow credit consortia to resolve issues of common interest;
  • Undertake specific projects on credit and other activities that deliver the aims of the Consortium;
  • Promote staff development and mentorship in these areas. 

The Consortium’s activity is focused on the provision of quarterly meetings and discussion fora and delivery of an annual conference and workshop programme to support areas of relevant activity.
